Separate the purchase from the shipping quote
Keep a budget with separate lines for the goods, any domestic delivery, selected service or packing charges, international carriage and any destination charges that apply. Mark a figure as unknown until you have a quote or a clear explanation of what is included. An unknown cost should not silently become zero.
EastMallBuy’s service model separates purchasing from international forwarding. After goods reach the warehouse, consolidation and packing can change the parcel’s dimensions and weight. The final shipping decision therefore needs more information than the original product card provides.
For your own comparison, record the currency, date and scope of each quote. If one total includes a packing option and another excludes it, reconcile that difference before deciding which is cheaper.
Import duty, VAT or GST and carrier clearance fees may be separate from the shipping quote. Use the customs and import-tax guide to check what the recipient may owe.
Understand actual weight and volumetric weight
Actual weight is what the packed parcel weighs on a scale. Volumetric weight converts its outside dimensions into a weight figure to account for the space it occupies. Depending on the selected service, the chargeable weight can be the greater of the two, with a specified rounding rule.
The general calculation is length × width × height ÷ the service’s volumetric divisor. Confirm the units, divisor and billing rule in the quote. Do not assume that one carrier’s divisor is the rule for every EastMallBuy shipping line.
A worked example
Suppose a parcel measures 42 × 32 × 28 cm and weighs 4.2 kg. On a hypothetical quote using a divisor of 5,000:
42 × 32 × 28 ÷ 5,000 = 7.5264 kg
If that service charges the greater weight, the dimensional figure would control before its rounding rule is applied. This example explains the calculation; it is not a live quote or a statement of EastMallBuy’s current rates.
To see how packing matters, imagine the same contents can be protected in a 40 × 30 × 24 cm carton. The corresponding figure would be 5.76 kg with that divisor. Whether repacking is suitable or cheaper depends on the actual goods, packing fee and final quote.
Compare routes using the same parcel information
Use the same destination, postal code, contents and packed measurements for every option. Then compare the quoted chargeable weight, total, included services and delivery estimate. A route that does not accept your item is not a usable lower-price option.

For perfume or battery-powered devices, give the service the exact item details and ask about route eligibility before purchasing. A route available for ordinary clothing may not be suitable for those contents.
Choose packing after resolving product questions
Ask what protection is appropriate for the item and which original packaging you want to retain. A shoe box, collectible box or fragrance package can matter to you even when removing it would reduce volume. Decide what you value before requesting a packing change.
Combining items can alter the parcel dimensions and available routes, so do not assume consolidation always saves money. Compare a combined quote with the alternatives when the difference matters. Settle outstanding issues from the QC review before paying to ship the item onward.
Track the stages and keep the final quote
Seller dispatch, warehouse handling, carrier collection and international transit are different stages. Keep the order reference, packing instructions, paid quote and tracking reference together. When asking about a delay, identify the last confirmed stage rather than treating the entire order as one unexplained shipping period.
